Note about Fall 2012:

Since the minimum number of interested students was not met by the deadline, the classes will not take place this semester.
(If you have contacted me, you will soon receive an email containing further information.)

Several parents and students, however, have demonstrated interested since then;
I am confident we can get the classes going next semester or next year!

In addition, if there is sufficient interest, I may hold a week of sample classes as a demonstration / introduction.

It would be lovely if you would fill out the two forms below!

Lead Soldier Lessons: Educational Services Tailored for Homeschoolers

At Lead Soldier Lessons (LSL), parents maintain control over their children’s education, and students are challenged academically—in a meaningful way.

LSL offers three main options:

1) Formal courses, worth high school credit, combine the worldview and lifestyle of Christian-based homeschooling with an interactive, social setting. (Instead of purchasing a curriculum, you pay tuition for a class. For most classes, no additional materials are necessary!)

2) Small-group workshops, usually lasting one weekend, focus on one practical subject or issue (for example, preparing for the SAT or learning to apply for jobs).

3) Private tutoring, guidance, help with grading, or working with the curriculum you already use (see "Other Services").

The Classes
A formal class involving a group of students allows the students to enjoy social learning, participate in class discussions, interact directly with the teacher, study through multiple learning styles, and learn advanced study skills (for example, each class helps students cultivate note-taking skills).

At the same time, LSL isn't a private school or a rigid institution. Rather, each class is like a living, interactive curriculum that fits into the homeschool plan you have already established. Except you don't have to assign lessons, explain troublesome concepts, or grade assignments! (See the FAQ for more information about how LSL classes can fit int your homeschool plan.)

LSL equips students to seek truth wisely, to apply it usefully, and to communicate it winsomely. Through LSL's classes, students gain an excellent, conservative education while preparing to face the world. They will:
  • Learn to love writing, contemplation, and learning;
  • Cultivate academic skills (like note-taking, studying, test preparation, and following assignment requirements), which will help them in any other classes;
  • Gain real-world skills (like meeting deadlines, following rules and instructions, and interacting with unrelated authority figures), which will prepare them for college classes, the workplace, and adulthood in general.

Lead Soldier Lesson's Motto: Teaching Students to Seek Truth

 If a subject is worth studying, then it’s worth understanding and mastering. Every area of education has more to offer than simple data; it also improves critical thinking, helps students understand the universe, teaches students how to learn, and illustrates eternal principles.

As students prepare to transition from homeschooling to adulthood, LSL seeks to equip them to make wise choices. Education might impart facts, but more importantly, it teaches truth—and it teaches students how to seek truth, in all areas of their lives.
